This is a flavoursome page, in that I hope it will both give you a flavour of the sort of songs I write and have written, and whet your appetite to hear more. This playlist was compiled with my nascent stage show in mind. It is eclectic, what ties the otherwise disparate strands together is that I think they will all work performed solo at a piano, though some of them benefit from wider instrumentation here. Scroll down for more track by track information, or just sit back and enjoy!
The most recent recordings are taken from Beachcomber CD. They are The Dance, The Shipping Forecast, Acrobat, For You, Perfect Hostess, A Dream.
With me on piano and vocal is Lily Blackmore on flute,
Jacqueline Dennett on violin
Chris Brannick on electric bass and percussion,
Laurence Taylor on guitar.
Of these tracks, only For You was taken from a show - Two Tigers, based on the life and writings of Katherine Mansfield.
Flight of Fancy, Green Rainfall, Hazy Summer Days, Banker Man, Night Visitors, Home and Snow, with John Jansson at the piano and performed as part of Ivory Images at Jermyn Street, London and New York's Manhattan Theatre Club.
Night Visitors was part of an unfinished score for a musical treatment of Max Beerbohm's Zuleika Dobson, Home was another song from Two Tigers, and Snow is a one woman version of the quartet from The Happy Prince.
Catching Falling Leaves, Last Call for Nefertiti and The Curse were all recorded with my long-standing cabaret partner Chris Brannick aka The Brannick Academy. Catching Falling Leaves is taken from our Elegantly Wasted CD, a tribute to the Great English songbook recorded with
The Favoured Few: Caryl Caffery on cello and Stephen Hiscock on drums and percussion.
The songs were performed in a show of the same name at English festivals and Don't Tell Mama in New York.
Last Call for Nefertiti and The Curse were written for the soundtrack of Last Call for Nefertiti. You can find out more about that project from the pull down menu or by clicking here.
Beachcomber, Camden Lock and The Weather in the Streets, were recorded for BBC Radio 2's Nightride, with Chris and cellist Catherine Black. We recorded several sessions as Premier Cru.
