THE MADNESS OF NOW

How do we curb the seemingly irrepressible desire to do things, just because we can? It is a universally acknowledged cliche that recent years has seen an unprecedented pace of change. Why did we feel that we had to embrace all the changes, all at once, and then some. Why couldn't we stop, take stock, and take things a little easier?

What are the chances that our first hesitant attempts to apply the searing advances in communications and technolgy are any good? With the benefit of hindsight those looking back from 200 years in the future will no doubt smile understandingly at  the stutterings of the information technology engine. They may find it hard to grasp that we were so easily prepared to sacrifice our liberties, in exchange for the licence to join in.

Have  we already learnt some things that might allow us to become wise in its application, to feed us and not flood us?
